Jack Smith Filing His Candidate Papers

My candidacy for City Council is now official. I am running in the 7th District.
Today (Thursday, 1/7) I received a letter from the Long Beach City Clerk that says :
"You are hereby notified that your nomination documents filed with this office on January 4, 2010 are sufficient to qualify you as a candidate for the Office of Member of the City Council, District No. 7 on the ballot for the City of Long Beach Primary Nominating Election to be held on April 13, 2010."
I am pleased and looking forward to the upcoming campaign.
In the paperwork I signed, I accepted campaign spending limits of $40,000 for this election. That qualifies me for matching funds. The first $100 of each contribution counts towards the qualifying minimum amount of $5,000. So, I need at least 50 people to each donate $100 or more (up to $350 if you can). If you've already donated $100 or more, we're covered (and thank you). If there's more than one person in your household and you'd like to contribute a couple of hundred dollars, do it in 2 separate checks of at least $100 with separate contribution forms.
Pass the word to everyone you know and ask them to contribute. I need you all to help me raise this money towards the $40,000 goal. One of my opponents has considerably more than $50,000 (he, then, won't agree to the campaign limits). So, I will need the full $40,000 and some really creative campaigning. $ and suggestions are very welcome.
Thanks for all your support and please enlist everyone you know into the effort.
